By law, every hospitality business that sells alcohol must have a properly qualified Duty Manager in charge at all times. The prescribed qualification is the Licence Controller Qualification (LCQ) and it must be held by people applying for or renewing their Duty Manager’s certificate in order to demonstrate recent and relevant training as set out in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act (2012). The learning you experience with our LCQ course not only equips you with the necessary information for the LCQ test and qualifications to take your expertise to a whole new level, it also gives you essential knowledge regarding your Host Responsibilities, Employee Obligations and Implications, as well as a general understanding of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act of 2012.

Course Content

This course consists of two unit standards:
* 4646 – Demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises
* 16705 – Demonstrate knowledge of host responsibility requirements as a duty manager of licensed premises

  1. 16 years or older
  2. Has demonstrated English language skills in CEFR low B2 range

The course is an intensive programme which has been developed to give students a hands-on experience to make a perfect cup of coffee.

Course Content

• The types and parts of an espresso machine;
• Grinder types, calibration and espresso shot timing;
• The quality of a good extraction;
• Espresso grinding, dosing and tamping;
• Essential elements to create consistently excellent espresso;
• Black coffee recipes;
• Troubleshoot poor quality coffee;
• Milk stretching equipment and accessories;
• The different types of milk;
• Best practice for excellent espresso coffee;
• Best practice for excellent hot chocolates and chai lattes;
• Equipment cleaning, care and maintenance;
• Simple latte art.

Course Outcome:

Upon successful completion of the course candidates will receive a Kiwidotcom certificate of participation.

Requirements:

Be 14 years older.

For international students:

Has demonstrated English Language skills in the CEFR A2 range.

This course provides students with the basic skills and knowledge required to operate commercial espresso coffee equipment and preparation of espresso beverages and is designed to assist those people wishing to develop their knowledge and/ or pursue employment in the café/food and beverage industry.

It covers the techniques and methods of basic espresso beverage preparation and execution. It also covers filtered coffee and pressed coffee making. The course is delivered through a combination of hands-on practical training, classroom and theory work.

Employers in the hospitality industry need staff that has a sound understanding of how to produce espresso coffee on demand. Participants in this course need to achieve 100% attendance and demonstrate a high level of competency in the production of espresso-based coffees – flat white, cappuccino, latte, short black, mochaccino, long black, and in espresso machine operation and care.

Course Content

This course offers you the chance to gain a comprehensive knowledge of barista. It covers
the production of all coffee recipes requested on today’s café society.

Course Outcome:

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Achievement for Coffee Appreciation (Level 2).
